The FLEX2 CCR, designed and built by iQsub and distributed by SubGravity, brings the proven X-CCR canister, scrubber, and head technology into a true sidemount rebreather. The standard unit includes a radial scrubber with up to 4.5 hours of runtime, the SM BOV Neo (or SM DSV) bailout valve, a removable O2 cell cartridge, Click-Lock keyed connections on every breathing hose and counterlung, Manual Addition Valves (MAVs) for both O2 and diluent, an Automatic Diluent Valve (ADV), Shearwater DiveCAN Petrel 3 controller, Shearwater HUD, oxygen first stage regulator, and three O2 cells as standard equipment.

The electronics package consists of the world-renowned Shearwater controller (Petrel 3 handset, with NERD 2 available as an option), which interacts with the Shearwater SOLO control board residing in the head of the unit. The two independent batteries are completely external to the breathing loop, sealed in their own compartments on either side of the head.

Configuration flexibility is the core of the FLEX2 design. Run it with two on-board cylinders, an oxygen-only on-board cylinder, or no on-board cylinders at all. Your gas configuration adapts to the dive instead of the other way around.

Loop / Counter Lungs / BOV

  • 3D-shaped inhale and exhale counterlungs in soft Cordura with PU coating
  • Click-Lock keyed bayonet connectors prevent improper assembly anywhere on the loop
  • Adjustable over pressure / dump valve on the exhalation counterlung, operated manually by pull cord
  • Counterlungs remove easily for cleaning, disinfection, drying, and travel
  • Compact, ergonomic sidemount geometry
  • SM BOV Neo bailout valve with one-handed CC/OC switching, or SM DSV option
  • Diluent shut-off valve on the LP feed for full diver control
  • Shearwater SOLO board with DiveCAN digital communications
  • Shearwater DiveCAN Petrel 3 Controller with full Trimix decompression
  • Shearwater DiveCAN HUD (or NERD 2)
  • Three O2 sensors in a removable cartridge – easy to dry, check, or replace
  • Two independent rechargeable Li-Ion 18500 batteries, one each for solenoid and HUD
  • Batteries housed in separate compartments on the sides of the head, fully outside the breathing loop
  • 316 stainless steel solenoid valve operating up to 17 bar above ambient (no LP adjustment needed on first stage)
  • Hermetically sealed control electronics compartment inside the head
  • 300 m rated watertight, color-coded connectors (Green: Controller bus / Blue/Red: Monitoring bus)
  • All cables detachable at the head for service, travel, and field replacement

Safety Features

  • Independent Primary Controller and Secondary Monitoring buses — a fault on one does not affect the other
  • Click-Lock keyed connections on every breathing-loop interface prevent improper assembly
  • Manual addition valves with tactile differences between O2 and diluent
  • No batteries inside the breathing loop
  • Easy breakdown for cleaning, inspection, and travel
  • Flood resistant counterlung and canister design
  • Replaceable stainless steel protective ring on canister bottom
  • Diluent shut-off valve protects against ADV malfunction
